The Osun State Police Command has paraded three individuals suspected of promoting a secession agenda associated with the Yoruba Nation.

The suspects—Fagbuyi Oluwafemi, 61; Joy Faseyeku, 63; and Alabede Janet, 64—were arrested at Obada Market in Ikire, located in the Irewole Local Government Area, for advocating support for the Yoruba Nation.

According to a statement from police spokesperson Emmanuel Giwa-Alade, the suspects were found in possession of an Oodua Nation flag, a tripod, a megaphone, two mobile phones, handbills, and a cap emblazoned with the Yoruba Nation insignia.

The statement detailed that Oluwafemi, a native of Akure in Ondo State, was apprehended on August 27 while addressing market vendors, urging them to abandon their allegiance to Nigeria. He claimed that the political entity known as Nigeria ended in 2014 after a century of amalgamation and was displaying the Yoruba Nation flag during his speech.

Following his arrest, the case was forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further examination. Subsequent investigations led to the arrests of Faseyeku and Janet in Osogbo and Ikire, respectively. The investigation has been completed, and the suspects have been charged in Federal High Court.
