Osun State chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Sunday Bisi, has fleed the country, on the fear that police may arrest him after falsely alleging that the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, was planning to kill Governor Ademola Adeleke, this medium has learnt.
Bisi had few days before the February 22 local government election, addressed journalists at the state party secretariat in Osogbo, where be declared that Egbetokun was plotting to kill Adeleke.
He said large deployment of police tactical teams was done to ensure security of the state was taken away from Adeleke, and threatened that hell would be let loose, should anything untowards happened to the governor.
But checks by this medium revealed that after Bisi made the claims, he was told to flee because police authorities in Abuja were making plans to get him arrested.
Weeks after the local government election had been concluded, Bisi has not been seeing in public, confirming privileged information that he has fled the country.
A member of the State Working Committee of the PDP in Osun, who spoke on condition of anonymity, during an interview told this medium that, “Bisi was advised to leave the country. IGP was planning to arrest him and the plan was to detain and later arraign him in Abuja.
“The claim he made landed him in trouble. The speech he read was written for him by Adeleke’s men. He was told to accuse IGP Egbetokun of plans to kill the governor. He didn’t have any proof.
“He realised his error and tried to reach the Police boss to apologize but Egbetokun didn’t leave that chance. He would have been arrested since Saturday, February 22, 2025 but he deliberately left alone that day.
“Since then, Bisi has not been seen in public. He has left the country. He is sending emissaries to Egbetokun to beg him but so far, the police boss has refused to listen to his apology.
“He has insisted on pressing charges against Bisi. The Osun PDP chairman may not return to the country until the matter is resolved. Adeleke is also helping him to beg the IGP.”
