The Osun State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Sunday Bisi, on Monday called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to disregard distractions from opposition parties in the state.

Bisi made the appeal during an interdenominational prayer session organized by the PDP to welcome the new year. The event, held in Osogbo, was attended by several prominent figures, including Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and former PDP National Secretary Prof. Wale Oladipo.

In his address, Bisi urged party members to focus on showcasing the achievements of the Adeleke administration, particularly at the grassroots level. He emphasized that with the upcoming local government elections, political activities in the state would intensify, requiring a greater commitment from the party.

Bisi praised Adeleke for his administration’s progress, highlighting investments in infrastructure, education, and healthcare. “From constructing and rehabilitating roads to providing affordable healthcare in all 332 wards, and prioritizing the welfare of the public workforce, his administration has made significant strides,” Bisi said.

He further urged the governor to stay focused on his vision for the state. “I have no doubt that with his performance, he will defeat the opposition again in 2026,” Bisi added. “Let us continue to support him and work together to build a better Osun.”

Bisi also called for unity, cooperation, and love among PDP members, stressing the need for collective effort in securing a brighter future for Osun.

In response, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Osun, dismissed Bisi’s prediction regarding the 2026 governorship election.

“2026 is not decided yet,” Odeyemi said. “Mr. Bisi can continue to dream, but opposition parties in the state are active and alert. The NNPP is determined to create an upset, and the people of Osun know where they are headed.”

The political landscape in Osun is expected to become more competitive as the 2026 elections approach.
