An Osun State High Court in Ilesa has issued a restraining order against Segilola Resources Operating Limited, mandating an immediate halt to its operations.
The state government, represented by the Attorney General and the Osun State Internal Revenue Service, sought the order due to the company’s outstanding tax obligations. Justice A.A. Aderibigbe ruled in favor of the state government, prohibiting Segilola from conducting any business activities in Osun until it fully pays its tax liabilities and development levies owed from 2019 to 2023.
“The court orders that the respondent is restrained from resuming or operating its business in Osun State until all outstanding taxes and development levies are settled,” the ruling stated.
The state government previously reported that Segilola Resources has accrued tax liabilities totaling N3.25 billion, with a demand notice issued in April 2024. Additionally, it was noted that Thors Explorations, operating six other companies on the site, failed to disclose these activities for tax and environmental accountability.
