The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State successfully thwarted an armed robbery and recovered a stolen vehicle from the suspects.
The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in the Onibu-Eja community along the Iwo-Ibadan road, according to a statement from NSCDC Commandant Michael Adaralewa, released by Kehinde Adeleke on Sunday.
“On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at approximately 3:25 p.m., a four-man gang of armed robbers invaded a residence in Onibu-Eja, stealing a vehicle at gunpoint from a family,” the statement said. “Immediately after the gang left, community members contacted the NSCDC for assistance.”
NSCDC officers on patrol quickly responded and engaged the suspects in a gunfight. Faced with superior firepower, the robbers fled, abandoning the stolen vehicle.
The recovered Toyota Corolla, with chassis number 1NXBU40E49Z005008, is currently in NSCDC custody in Osun State. An investigation is underway to apprehend the suspects.
Adaralewa praised the officers for their swift response and bravery in foiling the robbery. He also warned criminals in the state to reconsider their actions or face severe consequences.
Additionally, he commended the public for providing timely information and assured them that the NSCDC would continue to uphold their trust.
