Osun State Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke has been named Governor of the Year by Nigerian NewsDirect, in recognition of his efforts in wealth creation and capacity building.
The award was presented at the 14th Anniversary and Awards ceremony of NewsDirect, which celebrates notable achievements in both the public and private sectors.
In a statement to the Governor, the NewsDirect Anniversary Committee and Editorial Board commended Adeleke for his leadership in revitalizing the state’s cooperative economy, ensuring wealth is more widely distributed. The publication also highlighted his focus on educational and skill development programs aimed at empowering the people of Osun State.
“Your achievements in wealth creation, despite the challenges faced by Nigerians, and your commitment to capacity building reflect your resilience in driving economic prosperity for the people of Osun,” the statement read.
Other honorees included Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum, who was named Governor of the Year for the Northeast, and Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun. In the business sector, Aliko Dangote was recognized as Business Leader of the Year, while Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director of UBA PLC, was named Banker of the Year.
