A top aide to Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is reportedly scrambling to halt an ongoing investigation into his acquisition of a property in Atlanta, United States.
The aide, whose name has been withheld, currently holds a high-ranking position in Governor Adeleke’s administration and previously served as a local government chairman in Osogbo.
According to sources, the aide acquired the property in early 2024 and secretly traveled to the U.S. to inspect it. However, security operatives monitoring his movements discovered the development and obtained detailed information about the property.
“The details gathered eventually reached Governor Adeleke and his family members. The Adeleke family is known to own multiple properties in Atlanta,” a source revealed.
“Unbeknownst to the former local government chairman, who now occupies a top position in Adeleke’s administration, security operatives took several photographs of the property and launched an investigation into how it was acquired.”
The source added that the probe has caused panic within the Adeleke administration. Agencies including the ICPC, EFCC, and Interpol are reportedly working to apprehend the aide to explain how he amassed billions of naira within a year of his appointment.
Information about the property allegedly leaked in February 2024.
In addition to this official, at least three other appointees in Adeleke’s administration, along with a member of the House of Assembly, are also under investigation for various infractions.
One of those being probed is accused of involvement in internet fraud, popularly known as yahoo yahoo.
A security source familiar with the investigation disclosed further details, stating:
“The situation is creating serious pressure on the Adeleke administration. For example, a relative of Governor Adeleke, who secured a contract to supply broadcasting equipment to OSBC, is also under investigation.
“There are numerous petitions against individuals in this administration. We are examining many cases. The official who bought the Atlanta mansion is close to being arrested. Several others on the watchlist are aware, and many arrests are expected next year.”
