Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke’s promise to construct a Flyover at Alamisi Junction in Ikirun has remained a mere promise over one year after he openly unveiled the plan to embark on the project.

Adeleke had declared in October, 2023 that he would construct a Flyover at the Alamisi Junction in Ikirun to ease the traffic and prevent incessant road crashes in the area.

The announcement though recieved with enthusiasm was however noted with caution by many indigenes of the town, who were familiar with double standard associated with the current administration in Osun State, which Adeleke leads.

Those sceptical about Adeleke’s sincerity about the project said they remain unfazed going by the way Adeleke treated Akinrun of Ikirun, Oba Olalekan Akadiri, despite assurances to be fair in the handling of complaints recieved against the process that produced the monarch.

Meanwhile, members of the Peoples Democratic Party, who sprang into endless dancing after Adeleke made the announcement, had been going round the community, rallying the residents behind the proposed project.

Over one year after proposed project was unveiled, the decision by the governor not to comment work on the flyover has left many residents of the town dismayed with many of them preparing for showdown against Adeleke.

A member of the Akinrun in Council, who preferred to be identified simply as Chief Akintayo, said several meetings have been held by critical stakeholders, when it was observed that Adeleke was not kin to fulfill the promise.

“I wont reveal the details yet, but several meetings have been held by the stakeholder. All the projects that Adeleke initiated in Adeleke at the same time he openly told the entire world that a Flyover would be put in Alamisi Junction are today nearing completion.

“But the Flyover at Alamisi Junction has remained a mere promise over one year after. What exactly is our offence against Adeleke? What did we do wrongly to him? What is our offence in Ikirun?

“A decision has been taken on his matter already. Some of us were sceptical about Adeleke’s promise to construct flyover for us having realized the depth of his hatred for us in Ikirun.

“But some of our people, especially those in PDP were going from compound to compound rallying support for the him and the proposed project. Today, it is clear as daylight that the governor is just decieving us,” Akintayo said.

Another prominent indigene of the town, simply identified as Morenikeji, while speaking to this medium, called on Ikirun indigenes to reject further manipulations from Adeleke to return the community to its rightful place in the comity of major towns in the state.
