The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State is taking steps to ensure a smooth process for the recruitment, training, and deployment of adhoc staff for the 2026 governorship election.

State Resident Electoral Commissioner Mutiu Agboke made the announcement during a quarterly consultative meeting with Civil Society Organizations, political parties, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osogbo.

The meeting aimed to gather insights and feedback from participants to enhance the credibility and transparency of future elections, reflecting the will of the Nigerian people. Agboke acknowledged the commission’s achievements during the 2023 elections but emphasized the importance of addressing challenges to improve processes.

He described adhoc staff as the backbone of the election management system, stressing that proper recruitment, effective training, and timely deployment are critical to the success of any election.

Agboke expressed gratitude to the NYSC and Civil Society Organizations for their ongoing partnership and advocacy for credible elections in the country.

In a keynote address, Akeem Adisa, head of the Logistics Unit at INEC in Osogbo, outlined the processes and procedures involved in recruiting adhoc staff ahead of elections. He also called for the support of all Nigerians in conducting credible elections.

The event included breakout sessions where participants offered suggestions for improving electoral processes.
